JD vs Reality

A lot of expectations

Fast-paced startup environments - deliver more but balance your WLB :)

  • A Great balance of IQ, EQ, and Social Q. Reality - Say yes even when you have to say No
  • Are you a top-of-the-line developer and architect yourself? Reality - Build all prototype whenever possible
  • Hired, retained, and mentored for the individual growth of your team. Reality - Do your work and also be accountable for your work, 100% manager, 100% IC
  • Are up to speed with the current productivity frontier on serving and data technologies. Reality - Individual work, Manager road, read about technology
  • High autonomy; freedom to take risks, to experiment, and to fail. - Try 10 things, Fail 5, Pass 5
  • Not a CAVEr: You are a person that people like to be around. You are not a CAVE (Constantly Against Virtually Everything) personality. Reality - Work Attitude vs Personal traits are different. No one who is paid will say no. It's more about how you solve and does this approach works fine.
  • Say no to HiPPO: We want people who value everyone’s opinions & perspectives. We don’t want them to get overpowered by HiPPO (Highest Paid Person’s Opinion). Reality - Yes but do we actually follow, Easy to say :). Hiring the right experience who consolidates vs finds new perspectives both are different.

Keep Thinking!!!

Job Change

A job change is not about the duration of employment. It is more about are you able to do what you want to do. You can do only certain things being a copilot. Only a pilot can steer in the right direction. No matter how much you are technically equipped you need to be in the pilot seat to take control of bold initiatives.

Keep Going!!!
